What Farm Draft stores

For the owner and each person invited to a farm: an email address, used to sign in and nothing else. For the farm: the boundary and any features, placements, and zones drawn on the map; every dollar entered in the cash ledger and the budget; photos uploaded (receipts, crops, buildings); and any drone imagery you upload (orthophotos and elevation models). None of this is collected without you putting it into the app.

Who can see it

Only the people you invite to your farm, and only what their role allows. An owner or bookkeeper can see and edit money; an advisor can see money but not edit the plan; a hand sees the labor log, the calendar, photos, and the map, but not money. Nobody outside your farm's membership can see your data through the app. We do not sell your data, to anyone, ever.

Public data sources Farm Draft fetches

To build the map and the site-planning advisor, Farm Draft fetches public data about your farm's location from government and open sources. Each is used under its own licence:

• US public domain (no restriction on use): USGS 3DEP elevation, USDA NAIP aerial imagery, USGS/MRLC NLCD land cover, USGS NHD streams and waterbodies, FEMA's National Flood Hazard Layer (NFHL), the National Wetlands Inventory (NWI), USDA SSURGO soil survey data (via Soil Data Access), US Census geography and ACS data, and USDA NASS agricultural statistics.
• OpenStreetMap and Microsoft Building Footprints are licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL); Farm Draft uses road, building, and feature data from them as permitted by that licence.
• Mapbox and Regrid are used only if you (or your farm) set up an API key for them, under Mapbox's and Regrid's own terms of service.
• NCEI climate normals (1991-2020) come from NOAA, US public domain.

This fetched data describes the land and public infrastructure around your farm, not you; it is not personal information about you or the people on your farm.

The Farm Plan advisor and Anthropic

The advisor is built on Anthropic's Claude API. Your farm's data is sent to Anthropic only when you run the advisor (the mix search, the site plan, or a question in the ask box), and only the data that specific run needs to answer it: things like your site's terrain and soils, your goals, and your enterprises. Nothing is sent in the background. Per Anthropic's own commercial terms, API data is not used to train their models. A lawyer should confirm the exact wording of that guarantee before this page is final.

Cookies and sessions

Farm Draft sets a session cookie so you stay signed in, and a CSRF cookie to protect form submissions. That's all; there are no third-party trackers or advertising cookies, because there is no third-party tracking or advertising. You can sign in with a password or a six-digit code emailed to you. A sign-in lasts 90 days; you can see every device that is signed in and sign one out from the account page.

Where it's stored and backed up

Farm Draft runs on Render, hosted in Ohio, USA. The database is backed up regularly by Render as part of its managed Postgres service.

Getting a copy or asking for deletion

There is no self-serve export or delete button yet. Until there is, email the support address and ask for a copy of your farm's data or for your account and farm data to be deleted, and it will be handled by hand.

Changes to this policy

As Farm Draft adds features (billing, a self-serve export, more data sources) this page will be updated to match. Material changes will be called out, not buried in a diff.
